Confident. Brave. Kind and Curious. These are just a few of the words that describe the funny, fun and feisty magic of Pumpkin Pie. In a country that is as beautifully diverse and unique as South Africa, we need heroes that promote inclusivity and tolerance, kindness and joy. This was the inspiration behind this character.
Through the magic of storytelling, Pumpkin Pie explores both the joy and sometimes uncomfortable feelings that come with growing up. Through story, song and with the help of some colourful characters, Pumpkin continues to learn about herself and the world around her.
Book by book, journey by journey, this tiny hero continues to teach kids that it is our differences that make us unique, and that small as we may be, we can always make a difference to the world, and those that live in it.

Pumpkin Finds Her Beat!

MEET THE AUTHOR
Bianca is an actor, voice artist, writer, producer and director from Cape Town. In 2011 she graduated from UCT with her degree in Theatre and Performance. In 2012, she went on to complete her Post-Graduate Certificate of Education in English and Drama.
Bianca has performed in various stage productions such as Krotoa: Eva van de Kaap, District 6, Kanala, The Demon Bride, Happy New Year, Aunty Merle: The Musical, Orpheus in Africa, In Ongenade, Kristalvlakte, Alice in Wonderland, Niqabi Ninja and Alice in Wonderland.
She has also had roles in various films and series such as Troukoors, Nêrens Noord Kaap, Barakat, Swirl, Our Girl, A Christmas Chorus and The Riviera.
In 2021 Bianca wrote and directed her first feature film, Nativity which is available on Showmax. She has also written a number of children’s books such as The Baboon, The Dassie and the Berries (Available at Wimpy nationwide), Yolisa’s Might Mission (Available on the Gautrain), and she is, of course, the author of the bestselling children’s books, Pumpkin Finds Her Queen and Pumpkin Finds Her Kindness.
When Bianca’s not busy with all things creative, you can find her in her kitchen cooking up a storm and listening to South African Jazz, or lying on the couch nose-deep in a book. Bianca lives in Woodstock with her husband Dean, and their cat Mishu Petronella Flanders Balie. (And yes, that is her cat’s full name…)
